Literature Text

Spin. The soft glow flickers
     past my eyes, my
        heart rising up out
           of my chest and
        fluttering among the spotlights.
My words cannot
               keep pace
                   with its beating.
                   She brings sunlight to
                a desolate winter,
            the pale blue teardrops frozen
        on my lashes fall
     away and my vision
is clear.
Joy, serenity. My laughter
             and smiles
                 and blushes
         were never so honest.
I feel full
        of life.
The world is the glint of gold on her throat,
                 a tangible
           memory
     of a fall
          that mattered most. Sparks.
            Her bright eyes
          fill the mirrors that surround
                me,
beauty reflected in the glass.
It's in the shimmer of her every move.
Perfection
       standing
            with her arms
                  crossed.
An uncertain queen.
         A world may pretend
     with a person,
pull her in and break her heart,
                           but it has
                    done no such
           thing to me.
Her words fill me up
as I walk into the snow-covered sunshine,
and I fight the urge
                   to twirl.
More poetry.
